Italy Travel Articles

Italy is pretty welcoming for backpackers. You will find a lot of hostels so you don’t need to book in advance a lot. Don’t miss Rome, Florence, Venise and… Cinque Terre, the most impressive villages on earth! Cortona is also a pretty cute village where you can find the better gelato in italy!

177 - Becky and Mike on their Way to the Top

“This is a picture of Mike and I making our way to rifugio Lavarella in the Dolomites during an 8 day trip there with friends. This was the longest day of the trek, but the hike was well worth it when we finally made it to the top of that mountain and saw an amazing view. We were all surprised by an elderly man in his sixties who made it to the top before us, a bunch of eighteen yr. olds! “ - Becky

Colosseum - Rome - Italy - REI Backpack
“I traveled to Germany for business in early December of 2006. Once work was out of the way, I checked my luggage in at the Munich airport and continued my journey with a backpack spending a total of nine days through Switzerland, Italy, and Greece via train, planes and taxi rides. Each day was spent in a different city and traveling was always done after sundown. This picture was taken in the middle of the trip inside the Colosseum.” – Samuel
