The Image Mill – Quebec City

Robert Lepage and Ex Machina created an amazing visual tribute to Quebec City (12th best destination worldwide according to Condé Nast Traveler) for its 400th anniversary, The Image Mill.

“Representing the largest projection ever done, it requires the use of fine technology to project a huge quantity of images and films on the grain silos of the Quebec Harbour, an oversized screen, 600 feet wide by 30 meters high! In the hands of the creators, this huge mass of concrete is in constant transformation, which gives us the strange impression of it being alive and talking to us. Leaving the usual clichés behind, we discover the fascinating history of Quebec City with its upheavals, its controversies, and its great political and popular moments.” – Ex Machina

(Sorry for the quality, it is – obviously – an amateur video)

The production will run for the next five years.

Switzerland - Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW

“I spent 12 days travelling around Switzerland, because I had only that amount of time, I opted for using the train system to move around quickly and so being able to see as many places as I could fit in my schedule.
My favorite places are Zermat, Luzern and Soglio which is a very small village on the border with Italy.

Took one the world’s most amazing train rides, the Glacier Express between St. Moritz and Zermat. It has express just on its name, because its average speed isn’t even closer to an express train, but this doesn’t take away the spendour of the ride which takes you accross valleys and mountain passes.

Its a 7 1/2 hour railway journey across 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the Oberalp Pass at 2’033 metres in altitude. A panoramic trip through the Alps in the heart of Switzerland. The Glacier Express travels a beautiful route between the sights of the Graubünden holiday region, central Switzerland, including Lake Lucerne and Lucerne itself, the sunny Valais region with its glacier landscape, and the beautiful regions of the South.

Did some hiking in Zermat surroundings, which are just stunning and has got amazing tracks well marked.” – Alessandro
